Caritas Segunda Mana opens Charity Outlet in Simbayanan ni Maria Multi-Purpose Cooperative

09-NOV-2015

Buying is the new way of giving! Segunda Mana opened its 23rd charity outlet in Simbayanan ni Maria Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Taguig City on November 6, 2015.

Most Rev. Mylo Hubert Vergara, Bishop of Diocese of Pasig, led the opening of the newest branch together with Rev. Fr. Anton Pascual, Executive Director of Caritas Manila with guests Vice Mayor Ricardo Cruz of Taguig City, and Board Members of Simbayanan ni Maria Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SMMPC), Mr. Norman Mirabel and Ms. Louisiana Salvador.

Segunda Mana started setting up a mobile charity outlet at SMMPC in 2011. Mrs. Erlinda Daguio, a member and Pook Tulungan Leader of Simbayanan ni Maria, shared the reason why she supports Segunda Mana, “Masaya kami at mayroon ng permanent charity outlet ang Segunda Mana dito sa Coop namin. Noon man ay palagi na akong bumibili ng mga items sa Segunda Mana hindi lang dahil magaganda at mura kundi sa simpleng paraan na ito ay nakakatulong na rin ako sa mga scholars ng Caritas Manila.”

Segunda Mana is the donations-in-kind program of Caritas Manila which accepts pre-loved items such as: clothes, shoes, bags, toys, home and fashion accessories as GIFTS for CHARITY. Through Caritas Manila’s Segunda Mana, it advocates the 3Rs: reuse, reduce and recycle. And likewise provides opportunities for livelihood to about 900 Segunda Mana “suki” micro-entrepreneurs.

Other charity outlets are located in Caritas Manila’s main office at 2002 Jesus St. Pandacan Manila, and in our partner malls: Starmall – EDSA, Alabang, Las Piñas, and San Jose del Monte; Sta. Lucia Mall; Victory Mall – Caloocan, Alabang, Pasay, and Lacson-Quiapo; Greenfield – Paseo de Sta. Rosa and Mandaluyong; Isetann Recto; Riverbanks Marikina; Farmer’s Plaza Cubao; Makati Square; Harrison Plaza; Metropoint Pasay; Comoda Ville Antipolo; San Roque Cathedral in Caloocan; Ang Palengke Natin Service Cooperative Malabon and Sancti Josef Commercial Malabon.

Please support Segunda Mana by donating items which you no longer need, have excess of, or your company’s old and slow-moving inventories. Proceeds from Segunda Mana charity outlets fund Caritas Manila’s flagship program, Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP). There are currently over 5,000 poor youth beneficiaries under Caritas Manila’s YSLEP.
