Caritas Manila

Caritas Manila, the lead social service arm of the Catholic Church opens another branch of its Segunda Mana Charity Store, this time at the Makati Cinema Square along Chino Roces Ave. (formerly Pasong Tamo) Makati City.

This is formally Charity Store branch number three. And this is the first time that Segunda Mana will be putting-up a store inside a mall and the first store operating in the city of Makati. Segunda Mana store number three was made possible through the kindness of the management of Makati Cinema Square and Top Shoppe who offered the space to Caritas Manila for free.

Segunda Mana is the revitalized donations-in-kind program of Caritas Manila. Through Segunda Mana, people, organizations, and corporations help by donating items they no longer need or have too much of. The donors are aware that their donations will be sold to help generate funds for the programs of Caritas Manila for the poor, the needy, and the sick. Segunda Mana sells these donated items through these Charity Stores. Segunda Mana also multiplies God’s blessing by giving life to items that others may no longer need but may still be of good value to someone else. It also cultivates the value of reusing and recycling.  

The first Segunda Mana Charity Store is at the headquarters of Caritas Manila, in Pandacan. The Second is in Paombong, Bulacan. This third store is located in the new section of the 2nd floor of Makati Cinema Square. This new section is known as the Top Shoppe section.

Segunda Mana Store number three will open to the public on August 8, 2010, 10:30 AM following the mass, blessing, and ribbon cutting that will be led by His Excellency Most Rev. Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, D.D., Auxilliary Bishop of Manila and chairman of Caritas Philippines.

There are two main sections to a Segunda Mana Charity Store, the brand new section, and the used or second hand section. Segund Mana offers various items from clothes shoes, toys, furniture, office equipment, to books for sale.
