“Raising funds before a disaster strikes is at the core of Caritas Manila’s disaster preparedness advocacy. Caritas Damay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program has three phases: Prevention Phase, Response Phase; and Rehabilitation. We try to raise the funds before calamity strikes so that when there is a major disaster, be it natural or human induced, we can send immediate assistance. We can help instantaneously. This is the principle behind some of our resource mobilization programs like Alay-Kapwa, the Church’s Lenten evangelization program for the poor. Once again, this Lent, Alay-Kapwa will be raising funds for disaster preparedness. We hope people continue to support Alay Kapwa and Caritas Manila,” stresses Fr. Anton CT Pascual, Executive Director of Caritas Manila and President of Radio Veritas846.
Caritas Damay Kapanalig, the joint disaster relief and rehabilitation program of Caritas Manila and Radyo Veritas846 confirmed the arrival in Iligan City of the Philippine Navy boat transporting the in-kind donations raised by Caritas Manila and Radio Veritas. The second batch of goods arrived on January 31, 2012.
